Project photography by Kelly Thorne (Kexx)
This project took place in 2020. photographer Kelly Thorne (Kexx Artist) travelled to The Gambia and captured the lives of five women. These economic migrants have traveled though West Africa to settle in The Gambia. Here they have stared a washing business and are supporting their children though education. Kelly aimed to tell a positive storey of these West African women's lives to challenge the typical negative stereotypes of African's.
The exhibition took place in Kelly's home town in Camborne. Due to COVID this was a challenge but she was able to open to the public and raised some money to send back to the families to help during The Gambia's lockdown.
This project was self funded.
